Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions from families and individuals. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, give us a call or drop us a message.General Questions
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, we are! Currently, we may have a waitlist for some of the disciplines, but we try to move clients up as quickly as possible. Timing depends on various factors, such as availability, matching providers’ and clients’ schedules, age, and other considerations.
What insurance do you accept, and what coverage can I expect?
We are in-network with most common commercial insurance plans, including BCBS, UHC, Aetna, Cigna, Medicaid, and CHP. We accept commercial insurance and Medicaid, and we check your eligibility before starting services.
If payment is out-of-pocket, how much will I be charged?
Out-of-pocket costs vary based on factors like your insurance deductible and benefits, and the exact amount is determined during our eligibility check.
Timing for waitlists. Will you call me, or should I keep calling?
Not all disciplines and service areas have the same wait time. Wait times vary by service and location. We manage a waitlist and will contact you when scheduling becomes available. If you have questions while on the waitlist, feel free to reach out to our team anytime.
Do you offer in-home/in-center sessions?
All therapies we offer are provided in-clinic. We are an outpatient clinic; our services aim to provide families with the in-person knowledge they need to better address their children’s specific needs. If in-home services are needed, we are happy to provide recommendations and assist with services.
Do you offer kids’ treatment in schools?
We are happy to collaborate with school teams. The need for service provision in school settings is determined on an individualized basis.
How long does it take, and what is the process to get on the ABA waitlist?
Applied Behavior Analysis typically involves a waitlist. Once we have your child on the waitlist, we’ll contact you when we have availability and begin gathering the required documentation to schedule the initial evaluation appointment.
Do you prescribe medication at Oliver Behavioral Consultants?
No, we do not prescribe medication at our facility.
Drugs/alcohol abuse
We are not providing services at this time. However, if we hire a clinician with the scope of practice, we’ll let you know.
Do you perform Dx evaluations for adults and provide treatment, such as OT and Sp?
Yes. However, it will depend on your insurance coverage and benefits.
How young can my child be to be seen at OBC?
We treat children as young as 18 months old.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Questions
What is ABA therapy, and how does it help children?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps children develop communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors through positive reinforcement. Programs are individualized to support each child’s growth, independence, and success at home, school, and in the community.
How is Oliver Behavioral Consultants’ ABA approach different from other providers?
Oliver Behavioral Consultants uses a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ABA. Clients can receive ABA alongside Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Mental Health Therapy in one location. Our teams work together to create coordinated care, eliminating the need for multiple appointments and ensuring services align with each individual’s needs.
How long does ABA therapy typically last?
This varies from client to client based on their unique needs.
What does a typical ABA session look like?
Each session is tailored to the individual client and may vary from session to session.
OBC Staff Questions
Will my child work with the same therapist consistently?
Yes. Whenever possible, we ensure your child works with the same therapist to build a trusting relationship. Consistency helps our team better understand your child’s needs and effectively track progress toward their goals. If at any point your child works with a different therapist, rest assured that all OBC professionals are trained and well-versed to meet their unique needs.
OBC Scheduling Questions
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy length varies by discipline and client.
What happens if we miss a session?
We understand that life happens, but therapy is most effective when sessions are consistent. Missed appointments can affect client progress, insurance authorizations, therapist scheduling, and the waitlist of families seeking services. We strongly encourage families to attend all scheduled sessions on time. If a session must be missed or rescheduled, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice whenever possible.
Can therapy be scheduled after school or on weekends?
After-school sessions are in high demand and tend to fill quickly. Weekend appointments are not currently available.
How soon can services begin after evaluation?
Services begin based on availability and waitlist times.
